Motherhood/parenting can challenge every fiber of your being, but it can also become one of the greatest rewards of your life.
Some days you want to run away. And some days you don’t want to leave them. Some days you struggle to find the right words, and then other days you yell, cry, and wonder if you handled it all wrong. Baby… motherhood is a whole roller coaster. 🎢
And don’t let that phone ring in the middle of the night. Your sleep is broken, your mind starts racing, and you already grabbing clothes and keys before you even fully wake up. That’s motherhood too.
Some days your heart aches. Some days your heart smiles. Up, down, and all around.
What I’ve learned is this: help your children, but don’t enable them. Tell them the truth. Love them unconditionally. Trust God for it all. Trust Him to lead you, give you discernment concerning your family, provide what’s needed, and create a safe space where your children feel free to be honest with you.
And listen to them. Really listen. If you’ve raised them right, there will come a day when they start teaching you some things too.
I’ve also learned that every child is different. Two children can come from the same home, be raised with the same love, and still be completely different people. Because we are all different. Embrace those differences and parent accordingly. You may not treat them exactly the same because they are not the same people, but you do treat them fairly.
I’ve been mothering for 37 years now, and I’m still learning. And honestly? I wouldn’t take nothing for my motherhood journey. I love my two with their imperfect selves. 💕
And mothers… hear me clearly: there are no perfect children and there are no perfect mothers either. Give yourself some grace.
I love us. 🌸
Happy Mother’s Day!
